Sunbed Use Checklist:
- Only use a salon that is a member of The Sunbed Association.
- Complete the salon's customer screening process to identify any contraindications prohibiting sunbathing or sunbed use.
- Listen to the salon staff when they explain how to use the sunbed.
- Ensure you are aware of how to switch off the sunbed.
- Read all the instructions and information provided.
- Remove body and facial cosmetics, jewellery and contact lenses before the sunbed session.
- Do not use outdoor sun lotions or sunscreens on a sunbed.
- Always wear protective goggles throughout the sunbed session.
- If you notice any abnormal skin reaction while using the sunbed
STOP immediately and seek advise from a member of the salon staff.
Do Not Use a Sunbed If:
Most people can use a sunbed, but there are exceptions. If you answer YES to any of the questions below, you must
NOT
use a sunbed:
- You are under 18 years of age.
- You have skin type 1 - very fair, sensitive skin that does not tan in sunlight.
- You are taking any medication that may increase the skin's sensitivity to UV light or have a medical condition that worsens in sunlight.
- You or anyone in your immediate family has had skin cancer.
- You have an excessive number of moles/and or freckles
- You have a history of sunburn.
- If you are pregnant.
And Finally:
- Never
exceed the recommended length or number of sessions.
- Never sunbathe and have a sunbed session on the same day.
- Leave at least 48 hours between your first and second sunbed session and then 24 hours between subsequent sessions.
- Never
take double sessions.
If you are on any medication or drugs, please check with your GP or pharmacist before using a sunbed, as certain medications make the skin more sensitive to UV light. If you are pregnant, consult your GP before use.
